Dr Daniele Cannatella is an urbanist and GIS specialist, currently holding the role of assistant professor in Urban Data for Design within TU Delft’s Urban Data Science section, at the department of Urbanism. His primary research focuses on integrating adaptation solutions and sustainable urban development starting from a landscape-based approach and relying on GIS-based methods and tools.

His research and teaching revolve around harnessing data-driven approaches and digital cartography to unveil the interaction between man and nature in the light of climate change, and inform urban design processes.

In the graduation studio, Daniele interest lies in research-by-design approaches that combine regional design, urban design, and landscape architecture.

Possible graduation topics can include:

  • Landscape-based urban and regional strategies for climate adaptation
  • Innovative strategies for adaptive water use in urban environments
  • Nature-Based solutions, strategies and design proposals for climate risk mitigation and sustainable urban development
